High Raw Food Diet Challenge - Day 6
by Trina
(Growing Raw Health)
I choose excellent health.
Day 6 is about the time that 30 days starts to feel like forever. It’s not forever, and today I have to remind myself often why I’m eating high raw; for the energy and awareness that raw food health brings.
When I ate 100% raw, I initially experienced some serious energy and mood swings. I seem to be avoiding that this time. It could be that I have more of an idea what to expect, or that although I started off tired I wasn’t as exhausted as last time. However, I think that most of it is because I’m still eating 20% cooked food. Either easing into raw lessens the raw detox, or my body simply works better when some of my food is cooked. I think it’s a bit of both.
I’m becoming more concerned by the low calorie count at the end of each day. I thought this would even out, but instead it’s bottoming out! I was a little overweight from having two babies last time I ate raw, so the
raw food weight loss was welcome. I lost about 7kg and it’s been effortless to maintain, even when I was only eating about 50% raw over Winter. However my aim this time is to maintain my weight at about 68kg. I’m 173cm so 68kg is smack bang in the middle of my healthy weight range. I’d like to do this without heavily increasing the amount of fats in my diet, even though these are healthy fats from nuts, avocados and oils. This means I have to eat more...
I should mention that my calorie ‘counting’ is actually mental estimates based on Women’s Weekly style calorie guides I memorised as a self-starving teenager. (Idiot! I hope my daughter doesn’t do it...) There’s a lot of rounding up involved. It’s partly because don’t believe calorie-counting is a particularly healthy practice, but mostly I just can’t be bothered. So my apologies for the inaccurate reporting, but the important thing here is the percentage. I know, I know, I’ve been slipping up on that the last couple of days too. I promise to even it out...
I’m seeing possibilities everywhere; in the garden, in my relationships and friendships, in playtimes with my children, in ways I can develop Growing Raw Health... it’s like the possibilities for my life are expanding in line with my health.
