50% Plus Sushi

For a few years now, about 50% of the food I eat consists of raw food. Originally I wasn't so happy with eating raw foods. I would eat a lot of processed foods like chips, frozen corn dogs, and hot dogs; however, I realized that these foods were causing some acne problems and also made me feel less energetic.
After I incorporated more raw foods into my diet, I began to feel better. These raw foods include sushi, vegetables and fruit. I eat sushi a few times a week because it provides the lean protein I need to build muscle and stay active. In addition, fish provides natural omega 3 fatty acids that are important for maintaining good eyesight.
I also prefer raw vegetables because cooking them often takes the nutrition out of them. When you microwave or stir fry the vegetables, some of the nutrients get lost from the heat. I have also gotten used to the taste of raw vegetables which include romaine, broccoli, and lettuce.
The biggest benefit I've noticed with raw foods is that I consume less oil which helps with my acne. I've noticed many store that cook their food use a lot of salt and oil, which from experience causes acne. At home, I prefer to eat raw vegetables because it saves time from having to cook them. I'm a busy college student and often times I need to be able to cook a meal quickly for myself.
To regulate my meals, I always make sure I have a serving of vegetables and fruit. The fruits I buy are typically easy to cut and store for a few days at a time such as apples and oranges. I stay away from strawberries because they don't last very long and tend to go bad after a few days. That would require me to go back to the market every few days which I don't have the time to do.
From my experience, eating more raw foods, which is what I have pushed myself to do, gives me more energy and makes me feel healthier. I would recommend that other people try incorporating more raw foods into their diet for the health benefits.
